CHILD LINE is a unique partnership between the Government of India, Department of Telecommunications, Voluntary agencies, Academic institutes, the corporate sector, children and the community.

CHILD LINE is the crucial link between children in need of care and protection and the available services. For children with different needs, who call in anytime, anywhere, and for anything, it acts as a one-point contact which facilitates instant access to support, advice, active intervention or just a listening ear. CHILDLINE 1098 connects children in emergency on one end of the phone line to a well connected network of services.

Gram Vikas Trust as a Collaborative Organisation

Gram Vikas Trust as a voluntary agencies, which shall function as the call centers for CHILDLINE. They work 24hours and respond to calls that are received on the 1098 CHILDLINE service. The collaborative organisations are provided with a center coordinator who manages a team of 12 persons that respond to calls and intervene in emergency cases.

Role and function of CHILDLINE collaborative organisations are as under

  • Responding to cases received on the CHILDLINE 1098 on a 24/7 basis. The City mapping to identify high risk areas where vulnerable children are found.
  • Intervention and case follow-up on a daily basis.
  • Awareness and outreach in the community on a daily basis.
  • Monthly open house with children who are users of the CHILDLINE service and to understand issues that concern them.
  • Internal meetings once a week to discuss cases and follow-up.
  • Maintaining computerized documentation (on the CHILDNET package) on each call received.
  • Submission of monthly reports to the Nodal Organisation.
  • Set-up and coordinate activities and meetings of the CHILDLINE Advisory Board in locations where a nodal organisation is absent.

About Us

Gram Vikas Trust (GVT) came into existence as a result of the motivation and personal initiative of its founder, Mr. Ramesh Kasondra, to enhance the socio-economic status of the underprivileged people. Hailing from a rural family, the founder was no stranger to hardships faced by the underprivileged. Having overcome economic and social challenges, due to the backing and economic blessings from certain elder society leaders, the founder set out to do his best to make a positive difference in the lives of fellow underprivileged.
